This Japanese maple starts the season with bright burgundy foliage and is reputed to keep its deep-purple-red color better than any other lacel lace leaf.  Leaf color softens to purple-red, which holds throughout the season, even in shade.  It is compact and well-branched.  This mounded bushy maple works well in a small garden and even in a container.  Fall color is bright red.  Intermediate grower.  Plant sun/part shade.  Zones 5-9
