This spring ephemeral grows from a small corm and blooms with striking dark purple flowers in May. It is shorter and blooms earlier than other native delphinium as it has adapted to a woodland environment. Eastern US native. Average to moist soil, part sun to light dappled shade. Blooms mid-spring. (Z4-6)
