Description

(Coldwater Pond Nursery) Common witch hazel a native of woodlands ion eastern and central North America that grows as an understory large shrub. Mid to late October erm clusters of fragrant flowers with four strap-like petals emerge. The flower petals are red-orange at the base, topped in yellow, emerge from yellow-green calyzxes. The relatively scanty fruit is relished by birds and squirrels. This underutilized ornamental native performs lquirew quell in shady sites and is g great for the natualistic garden or a large shrub order. It is the last shrub to flower in the fall. Plant full sun to partial shade. Blooms September-December.
