Sempervivum 'Henry's Black' NEW 2022
Email a friend
Sempervivum have many common names: Hens & Chicks, Houseleeks and Live Forever. They are native to the mountains from Morocco to Iran. Extreme heat, cold, and drought will not kill them but excess water or shade may. All spread by forming new “chicks” or small rosettes to the side of the main plant. Height ranges from 1/2 – 3 inches tall (without flowers). The flowers of Sempervivum are exotic looking. The rosettes seem to ratchet upward with scaly stems which hold the daisy like flower. Unfortunately once the rosette flowers it dies. Sometimes the flower stems can be pinched before they expand too much to keep the main plant from dying. Most change color (like Sedum) in cold weather. Henry's Black is green at the base with deep brown tips. Plant sun.
